Job Title: Community and Events Fundraiser
Salary Range: £25,000

About the organisation:

The SMA Trust was created to strategically accelerate the search for treatments and eventually a cure for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), the number-one inherited cause of infant death. The SMA Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to funding research into a cure and treatments for SMA and currently funds over 75% of UK charity funded research. The SMA Trust is seeking to appoint a creative and pro active Community and Events Fundraiser to join their team.

About the role:

The post-holder will be responsible for the development and support of all Community and Event fundraising activities, working with the Head of Fundraising to grow this income stream by organising major SMA Trust events, recruiting participants for third party challenge events and supporting/growing a national network of voluntary fundraising groups.

Key Responsibilities to include:

  • To establish/maintain high standards of communication for all donors, maximising their engagement with the charity and its objectives.
  • Support fundraisers by providing advice, materials, merchandise and information as required.
  • Work with and manage existing volunteers as well as recruiting new volunteers to support the organisation.
  • Develop, maintain and promote a comprehensive and engaging calendar of SMA Trust and third party events.
  • Develop contacts with schools, community groups and corporate supporters linked to those groups.

Person specification to include:

  • Experience of working in a community and/or events fundraising role.
  • Proven experience of managing and recruiting
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to build strong relationships with supporters.
  • Experience of working with a supporter database.
  • Personal qualities to include being a team player who has a flexible approach to duties and working
  • An interest in and enthusiasm for the Charity’s vision, mission and strategy.
